Thanks, all, for your feedback. I was able to stop hitting my head against the wall on the biosprint() approach, having not known if I was just missing something obvious. I will try the low-level outb() instructions. I had been assuming that Windows 2000 memory protection mechanisms would get in the way. I have also been motivated to bring an ancient 66MHz Compaq garage-sale-special out of retirement. Gave it some more memory and loaded Windows 98SE, but haven't quite got DJGPP configured yet. (I am quite sure this was an incredibly new experience for the old-timer.) Figure I might have better luck with that platform. I really appreciate that folks like you make this solo basement engineer feel a lot less alone! Steve
