Guys,

I know this is stupid, I never thought it could be that hard to get DJGPP to
work but sometimes it really is.
I've beein happily using DJGPP under DOS, w9x and almost a year under w2k,
but now something has got broken after I recently reinstalled w2k. I can't
run DJGPP anymore on my computer.

Just for you to know what I have installed:
bnu211b.zip
csdpmi5b.zip
djdev203.zip
gcc2953b.zip
gpp2953b.zip
lgp2953b.zip
mak3791b.zip
rh1478b.zip
txi40b.zip
alleg312.zip
Everything unzipped with full path names to C:\DJGPP

My settings:
DJGPP=C:\DJGPP\DJGPP.ENV
PATH contains: c:\djgpp\bin
LFN isn't defined at all and but its definition as Y or N doesn't change
anything

When I try to create an exe or build allegro I always end up with the
following (one or both lines):
c:/djgpp/bin/ld.exe: cannot find -lgcc
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

This is what I get under both w2k and in what is called MSDOS7.

OK, I tried removing the DJGPP directory and reinstalling without luck.
I tried running disk checking to make sure it's not a disk prob and
reinstalling again with the same result.

I tried both the older DJGPP (listed above and dated something like a year
or two back from now) and newer version, which has all thouse w2k/nt DPMI
issues solved (downloaded a few noths ago from simtel):
bnu2112b.zip
djdev203.zip
gcc2953b.zip
gpp2953b.zip
mak3791b.zip
rhid1491b.zip
+ same csdpmi5b.zip
+ same old alleg312.zip
but neither worked on my PC.

At the same time I'm able to run either of these same two DJGPP distros on
the dad's PC under w98 and DOS7.

I'm wondering what can be so badly broken here...

OK, here's a short description of my PC:
Celeron 600 (running at 675 -- has been working like this all the time and I
never seen any problems because of that and DJGPP worked until w2k
reinstallation)
256 MB RAM
20GB HD

Any hidden semantics? Any features I'm not aware of?

This is puzzling me the second day in the raw. Can't even think of any
possible prob. Any ideas?

TIA
