The problem is in your understanding of what FA_DIREC does.

FA_DIREC does not cause findfirst to search subdirectories.  It only
causes "findfirst" to return the names of subdirectories (they are
normally excluded).

If you need to search subdirectories, you will need to write (recursive)
code to search subdirectories.
