Alt+Enter switches the Dos window between full screen and normal.

Doesn't the DOS box have a property to make it full screen?  I think it 
does.

Also, you can click that Full-screen button on the tool-bar of the window 
running RHIDE, to make it full-screen.

You could try Emacs.  You will find it in the v2gnu directory of the 
DJGPP site.
