"make". But that requires you to type "make<CR>" so I'm not sure it
qualifies.

I'm not sure what you mean. (But make sure your file is named xxx.cpp
and not xxx.cpp.txt. (And to be sure that usually means doing "dir",
i. e. more typing!)
