Take a look at /include/tv/filecoll.h I added some goodies to TV that control it:

const unsigned fcolHideEndTilde=0x100; // *~

const unsigned fcolHideBit=8, fcolHideMask=0xF00;

They should be used to set:

static unsigned sortOptions;

Member of TFileCollection.

I use them for setedit.
