Please note: just because an error message is "strange" doesn't mean
that's a compiler bug.  Especially in C++, where it's sometimes nearly
impossible to come up with a sensible guess at the actual cause for a
semantic error, so it's a bit overly optimistic to expect the compiler
to understand what you, an intelligent human being, apparently didn't.

The compiler can't know what you meant --- it's not a mindreader.  So
it has to rely on what you actually typed.

Can? Yes --- nobody can stop you from doing so. But generally, they
shouldn't.  GCC-specific reports belong to GCC-specific forums.
