Unfortunately, I can't *use* it, because symify doesn't translate it
into something that can be connected with an actual suspect line of
code, function, variable, or anything.

Nonetheless, it cannot be the explanation in this particular case,
barring the unlikely coincidence that my bug coincides with a bug in
the compiler being triggered to output a spurious example of those.
