Make does that by default, unless you have some weird rules in your 
Makefile which defeat that.  But since you didn't show the relevant 
Makefile fragment and didn't even describe what you are trying to do, it 
is very hard to tell something more specific.

Can't say I know what .autodepend does.  Last time I used Borland's 
compiler was 6 years ago, and I didn't care much about their version of 
Make even then.
