Dear Mr Robert Anderton, UK
I am so new with these assemblers, that I need some help.
I keep on installing these other programs - this time assemblers -, until I
find good enough strip (I don't mean beautiful model with large bra, as you
can imagine ;-) to C/C++, Fortran and Pascal.
1) NASM AND NASM-IDE INSTALLATION
I have installed to my HP 486/50 "veteran home typewriter" in Dos programs:
Nasm 0.98, Nasm-Ide 1.4 and Nasmdoc from http://nasm.2y.net/ (Please don't use
.pang picture. Pig is common used) sites.
I also have installed Jeff Duntermann "Assembly Language Step-by Step", Second
edition, 1999 CD stuff (Dos and Linux). In CD there were older version of Nasm
and Nasm-Ide. I don't install these older versions.
I put first Nasm location C:\DJGPP\NASM\ without program name.
When I tried to assemble in directory
C:\DJGPP\NASM\EXAMPLES\
file BAR.ASM I got to screen following error message:
- Unknown Spawno error code 2
And error information
- Error - unable to open error log.
Where is error log???
I change the Nasm location to
C:\DJGPP\NASM\NASM.EXE
and it helps.
I tried to assemble program again
and error information was:
C:\DJGPP\NASM\EXAMPLES\BAR.ASM: 19; error: unrecognised directive [ORG]
and in line 19 was:
[ORG 0x0100] ; Set code start address to 100h (COM file)
Same error occurs in every examples and few others.
Have you tested these examples?
What should I do?
2) NASMEDIT
Do I need nasmedit.zip somewhere or is it enough to install Nasm and Nasm-Ide
for programming?
3) NASM AND AS
Can I use same Nasm source code (*.asm) in Gnu/ Djgpp As (*.s)?
P.S. Our ice-hockey team "Oulun Kärpät = Oulu's Stoats, http://www.oulunkarpat.fi/"
won (used sledge-hammer) "Helsingin Jokerit = Helsinki's Jokers, http://www.jokerit.com/"
7-2 tonight and try take part in semi-final. And Oulun LuistinSeura (OLS) won
Finnish championchip in bandy (ice-ball) 2001, too. We go in for sports here
in high-tech city of Oulu, too, indeed.
Thanks in advance
Veli Suorsa
