According to this post, core dumping is indeed possible and feasible.

I've also tried visiting George's home page, but it seems to have
disappeared. He used to be a frequent poster to the Allegro mailing list. I
haven't tried searching through the Allegro mailing list though. So anyone
who's had recent contact with George Foot, please mail me his email address
privately.
