Maybe this is a known problem although I have not seen any
announcement or discussion of it...

It appears that the c.o.m.d news gateway is somehow picking up usenet
posts and interpreting them as listserv requests.  

Below is a message I recieved, obviously in response to my usenet post

another similar problem, which I attempted to let DJ know about, but
my mail to him bounced.
