Why are the shift keys treated differently?
Yes, they produce characters that are different from the default US
keyboard layout (in combination with the other keys. But so do the
right Alt key, ".,öäüß#+" etc.. and they all work. y and z are also
swapped compared to US layout.
Layout switching is done with Ctrl-Alt-F1 and Ctrl-Alt-F2 - no shift
keys involved here.
What about the xxx-lock keys?
Hmm, sorry, but I can't follow you...
