It appears that you are reading the documentation (Good!) but not 
fully undersanding how documentation is written.  Because it must
include both some text that you will type literally and other text
which stands for something you provide, you are probably seeing
something like:

  gxx <inputfile> -o <outputfile>

The entire construct <whatever> stands for something you provide,
so the application of this form to what you want to do is

   gxx c:/hello.cpp -o hello.exe
