Subject: ANNOUNCE: Version 1.3 of man clone uploaded
Reply-To: djgpp AT delorie DOT com

This is to announce that version 1.3 of the man clone is available
from SimTel.NET mirrors worldwide:

 ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2apps/man13b.zip
 ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2apps/man13s.zip

`man' is a program for formatting and browsing documentation written in
the Unix ``man page'' format. This is a standard program on any Unix
system. Since most ported packages come with man pages, and some don't
have any other docs but man pages, this clone of the standard Unix
command was written to fill the gap.

The program is quite simple: it looks in several directories for the man
page files, then constructs a formatting job (if required), then invokes
Groff to format the pages and Less to display them. To read formatted
pages, you only need Less, Groff is not required (see section 5.5 of the
FAQ for more about this).

This clone is suitable for use both as a stand-alone program, and as a
back-end to Info and Emacs (which have built-in commands to display man
pages).

This is a maintenance release. A couple of bugs were fixed, docs were
added (as a man page, of course ;-), and portability to Borland C,
courtesy of Erwin Waterlander <waterlan AT xs4all DOT nl> is now part of the
distribution.

Please direct any further discussions about this port to
comp.os.msdos.djgpp news group (or write to its e-mail gateway
djgpp AT delorie DOT com).
