A parse error can occur say when you forget to put a semicolon at

Could you please post as short a fragment of your code which 
shows this behaviour as well as the version of GCC and also what 
these "other" compilers are.

Gcc 2.95 and greater have more strict error checking however 
IMHO a parse error should be detected by most compiler's so I'm a 
bit  curious about he fact that your code compiles normally on 
other compilers.
