elvis - a vi port? do you know if it has color syntax?

also more importantly - in comparison to others (ie emacs, elvis etc.) how
do you think vim performs in terms of RAm requierments and overall launch
spped?

I am thinking of running compiler (c++) and text editor on a _very_ simple
machine (ie 4 meg RAM old 486)

normally would definitely consider EMACS but it is just too huge for 4
megRAM i've heard...

have tried to use vim - not too bad ;-)

With best regards
