I was aware of the "ANSI" standard when I bought the book,  which was
published in 1999- first printing in 1998- and it  does say on the cover
"covers ANSI Standard C++."  I guess they lied.

I'll probably end up picking my way through a harder book like The C++
Programming Language Third Edition by Bjarne Stroustrup even though its
alledgedly not for beginers. I looked at it today and surprizingly  I could
actally follow some of it.  At least when I ask questions my confusion will be
my own and not the book's. It seems like the people who answer my questions on
the internet would also prefer it that way.
