SYSROOT is the problem: only Bash knows about SYSROOT, so when you
invoke other programs, they get confused by the incorrect PATH.

The solution is not to use SYSROOT.  You shouldn't need it; if you
have problems that you think need SYSROOT, please describe those
problems, because they most probably have other, safer solutions.
