This is done in two stages:

	1) Recompile ld (and the rest of Binutils) with ELF support.  You 
	   get COFF executables that can produce ELF.

	2) Using the results of 1), recompile again, this time you get 
	   ELF executables.

But you still didn't explain what are you trying to accomplish.  Perhaps 
there is a simpler solution to your problems.
