You didn't say what does ATTRIB print about the parent directory,
C:\djgpp\LIB\GCC-LIB\DJGPP\2.81.

When you tried GCC 2.95, did you installed the binaries in a different
directory or in the same one?  Also, did you replace gcc.exe as well
with the version from v2.95?
