That is definately a VESA driver bug, then. Complain to your hardware
manufacturer, and tell them they forgot to implement the bx=0x80 mode
in their protected mode setDisplayStart stub.

It's a shame that so many VESA drivers are incompetently written,
but there is no easy fix for this other than just to replace that
driver with better software.
