You need to set the DJGPP variable, not DJDIR.  The DJGPP variable should 
be set on the same computer where you want to *run* the software, not 
where the files are installed.

No, don't set DJDIR, it is dangerous and won't solve the problems.  The 
real problem is that the DJGPP variable is not set on the machine where 
you run the programs.

If the above doesn't help, please post the complete description of your 
setup, including the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files from the machine 
where you want to run DJGPP.
