I think they're referred to the FAQ for a very simple reason: Not only they
will find a solution to their problem but they will learn where to look when
they have another problem. I really don't think Eli and others point them
to the FAQ because they find the questions bothersome. I think they know
that this is the best for the user, if they read the FAQ, they will find
many
useful info in there.
