Probably for completion on directories typed as part of PATH and its
ilk.

It would seem a good idea to have the DJGPP port to use the value of
$PATH_SEPARATOR in the same way, and change the value of that
Readline-related variable every time the value of PATH_SEPARATOR
changes.
