I have a legacy TopSpeed (a discontinued C compiler) application which
communicates with a DOS device driver through Expanded Memory. I do not
have source code to the device driver.
I would like to switch to DJGPP because I need TCP/IP support, which I plan
to get with the Wsock library.
Having read the FAQ's and documentation, I see that I can access memory
below 1 MB, but am not clear if there is an explict Expanded Memory
interface. I need the TopSpeed equivalent of ALLOWLOWSEG and FREESEG, which
return and take selector. I am not an expert on the different DOS memory
managers, and the intricacies of DPMI and EMS and XMS, and would greatly
appreciate and advice.
I have downloaded DJGPP and Wsock and was very impressed with the ease of
installation and lack of problems in building the sample programs.
thank you,
Tom Friedel
