Hi Fred, DPMI is the bit of SW that lets you run gnu 32 bit SW under 16 bit DOS. It looks after memory above 1Meg, interrupts and all sorts of nitty gritty stuff like interrupts. It's a must have and you have it if you have win95 else you get it in one of the djgpp *.zip files for pure dos and win3.1.
