See section 8.13 of the DJGPP FAQ list.

Think about it: how can a program that switches the CPU to protected mode
and then calls DOS services from a protected-mode code be small? All the
code that does this trick needs to be there, or else the program won't
work.

The minimal DJGPP program is 28KB; see the FAQ about how to make such
programs.

I still think that the size is not what you need, but you don't explain
what do you need, so I cannot help you.

Well, simply use the *.o file, and you have your small file.

The binary format is described in the Binutils docs (get v2gnu/bnuNNs.zip
and read there).

This is described in the GCC docs, look for the section that describes
function attributes and read there.
