Does anybody know when/if a new version will be coming out (its been a
while)? Should I hold my breath? Has anyone fixed the problems it has
running directx in windows (rather than full screen)?

Also, can anyone tell me how to disable the window that first pops up
when running WinAllegro before I change it to whatever screen mode I
set?
