i don't think people are so much thinking of FreeDOS itself as a future for
DJGPP, but at least the idea of another DOS platform is comforting to them.
Besides which, if there is open source to a 16-bit DOS, some enterprising
group of people will convert it to a 32-bit protected mode DOS, undoubtedly.

in fact, i would like to do that someday in the future when finished with my
current projects.  i think it is not so much the future that they see in
FreeDOS, but a tool with which to make the tools to make the future.
