read the info pages of gcc. if the platform for which u want (mips in ur
case) is available in the list then u can probably make a cross compiler.
after untarring the gcc distribution see if there is an mips directory
under the config directory. if it is there, then u can generate code for
mips. but keep in mind that u can only produce assembly code o/p. u cannot
produce an mips executible unless u have cross linker.
