Problem is that telnet program for DOS (djgpp) and telnet program for
UNIX should have quite different functionality.
Telnet for UNIX need to handle telnet protocol only, becouse it already
runs on real terminal or terminal emulator. Most complicated thing in
telnet for DOS is terminal emulator.
There is telnet for dos, which comes as example with Waterloo TCP
library (which is, I think, used in djgpp), so dig a bit deeper.
Of course, any linux distribution comes with sources of its telnet
client, but it is Unix telnet, which just sends current value of TERM
environment variable to remote host and allows terminal it started from
to handle anything. (it can be useful for DOS if you have ANSI.SYS
installed).
