Well, I am assuming file output is the desired output of your program.
If you are compiling and running from within RHIDE, which I also am
assuming you are doing, you are running the program and the program has
nothing to stop it from exiting and it is returning to RHIDE.
Put a getch(); so you can stop and look at your output before the
program exits.
The exit code is the return value of your program. Getting a 0 is a
success.
