??? Assuming you are in a DOS window, and are compiling the usual 
printf("hello world\n"); thing in foo.c , you should see something like

>gcc -o foo.exe foo.c
>foo
hello world

cwsdpmi is available from where ever you got djgpp, and will provide the
protected mode interface for executables produced by any of the pmode
tools.
