I had a similiar problem to this using rhide, I could compile my programs
and then link them, but not in one step using the make command. This only
happened on single file programs however, and I was able to get around it by
opening a new project, then adding my file - suddenly hey presto, I can
make.

So you can always try creating a project if you haven't already.

Hope that helped.
