Ummm, there is a font library around which does this (I think) but I can't
remember what it's called. Can't even tell you if it's linked from the
Allegro Homepage. Sorry.

My method for transparent fonts creates a BITMAP big enough to hold the
string, then blit it to the screen using draw_trans_sprite. If you want to
find the minimum size for the BITMAP to be, use the text_length and
text_height commands.
