This is most probably the last time I actively work on porting
TeX/Web2c and related programs to DJGPP. It became a burden to
participate in the pretest of all the GNU packages I am involved with,
and I no longer can afford to continue actively support all of them.
So I am forced to make tough decisions on discontinuing active support
of some of them.

Others will have to pick up where I left off. With the inclusion of
the DJGPP support in the official distribution (and on the TeX Live
CD-ROM), the bulk of the hard work is done. Future development of the
DJGPP support for TeX-related text processing needs someone with a
level of expertise and perspective on this field which I lack, in
order to decide on priorities in porting additional programs. I only
use these programs to typeset Texinfo docs, and even the additional
ports in this release are mostly way beyond my everyday needs; I
ported them because people who maintain them told me they were
important for serious TeX-related work.

Volunteers are welcome to come up and take the lead. I will gladly
help anyone who asks questions about the DJGPP-specific aspects of the
TeX setup, about the crucial details of the DJGPP support, and about
anything else that would help to carry on with this support.

I also consider myself responsible for any bugs and problems that
might be lurking in this latest port. So don't hesitate to report any
abnormal behavior you see.
