Try to run RHIDE on your project like the following:

rhide -y YOUR_PROJECT

instead of

rhide YOUR_PROJECT

and see if it solves now your problem. If yes, then
you should read again the readme.djg file from the
gcc archive, which describes how to install gcc on
Windows 95 (for WIndows 98 it should be the same)
because you have a long-filename-problem.

Alternatively you can add the line

SET LFN=y

to your autoexec.bat or 

LFN=y

to your djgpp.env or

RHIDEOPT=-y

to your djgpp.env
