The reasonf or the flicker, is the screen clear.  When you clear the screen
there is a little frame that is all black or whatever.  If you do this once it
probably wouldn't be noticed, but when you do it every other frame, it sticks
out like a sore thumb.  Simply put: don't clear the screen that often.
