That could have been Mickdll also, instead of just mdll.
I used it some years ago to enable a user to select a printer driver
at runtime. and it worked very well. 
Graphic printing in Dos is not straightforward, and the different
printers drivers had different code sizes.
The source of mdll is written in C.
