If You are not able to figure this out from source archives of DJGPP 
ports of gcc-2.8.0 and gcc-2.8.1 than You should wait for release of DJGPP 
port of egcs-1.1 which is being tested now (I'm using it since begin of 
September). Note that I haven't even tried to get building egcs-1.1 to work
without LFN support and that will not work currently.

Also files in gcc/config/msdos perhaps are relics from 2.7.2.X and 
were NOT used later.
