Mr Delorie,

Last year I let you know that I had created a simple IDE, by modifying
the MicroEmacs editor. It makes systems calls to invoke the compiler.
A problem is the use of DOS variables. I'm finding that working with
DOS variables in a Windows environment, let alone a Novell environment,
is very clumsy. Is there any way I could get or recompile a version of
your compiler that could the information it needs (i.e., the location of
the djgpp.env file) without DOS variables? This would make my IDE much
more reliable and stable in a Windows environment for first semester
students. Thanks much!
