In real mode?  Use

mov eax,1
mov cr0,eax
JMP FAR selector:offset

Now you are in protected mode.  For more compatibility try this

mov eax,cr0
or eax,1
mov cr0,eax
JMP FAR selector:offset

or for 286 compatibility....
LMSW
OR AX,1
SMSW
...
