There is Linux distribution called Mini-Linux. It resides on your hard disk in
usual dos directory and you can start Linux right from command prompt (like
Win3.11)
It uses DOS-FAT (and native Linux file system too). So, if you can't (or don't
want) alter
your system by installation of full featured Linux distribution but want just to
play with it,
IMHO, Mini-Linux is your choice.
