Unless you tell allegro to leave out what you're not using, it links all
of its timer, joystick, mouse routines, etc. Check the allegro.html for
which pieces you can leave out.
parts are removed by defining keywords, e.g.

#define allegro_mouse_unused         // im not sure that's the exact
keyword
