errno == 22: No such file or directory (ENOENT)

That's what the 22 means. save_bmp returns what errno is. I have no idea how NO
SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY could mean anything when saving (when opening, it makes
more sense...) unless somehow your save path isn't valid (if you specified a
full pathname to saving the file, you may have a typo).
