Do you have the latest binaries of GCC 2.8.1 (gcc.exe and gxx.exe are 
dated June 6, 1998)?  If not, please download the latest gcc281b.zip and 
gpp281b.zip from SimTel and try again.

Why did you do that in the .env file?  Did you edit djgpp.env?  If so,
please revert to the original .env file, set LFN=y from the DOS prompt and
try again.

Editing djgpp.env is a bad idea, since its syntax is cryptic and it is
easy to break things up if you don't know exactly what each obscure 
character there means and how it affects DJGPP.
