I guess you are using RHIDE 1.4, even when that's the last official release is 
VERY old (september of 1997) so I don't even remmember what features have the 
editor inside of RHIDE, I think you can fix it changing the command assigned to 
the DEL key. Try changing DelChar for DelCharClear. If it doesn't work try a 
beta of the IDE from:

http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/~rho/sho/rhide-beta.html

I changed it a lot of time ago bacause various users wants this behavior.
