Yes, but I cannot send it, since it is a proprietary program that someone 
gave me under oath that I will never reveal it to anybody.

It would be interesting to take a non-trivial C program that is highly 
CPU-intensive, and recompile it in C++, to see whether my experience is 
correct.  Since I don't work in C++ too much, I cannot do that myself.
