Nice to see someone getting started at the proper age. :)

Sounds to me like you've got most of what you need, though I'm dubious 
about the first two books you mentioned. I've looked at them and consider 
much of what they say to be bad advice, though I'm an old fogey who would 
rather reinvent the wheel in assembler than use someone else's library 
most of the time.

Probably what you really need is some programming experience. Pick your 
language, learn it, and actually sit down and write something. Don't try 
to knock off a killer game first-thing. Start small and work up. You 
don't even have to start with games. Almost any practice you get will 
help in the end.

As for spending money - if you're not intimately familiar with the 
language you're going to use, you'll probably want a good reference. Most 
electronic documentation doesn't cut it. Find a nice, fat book that has a 
tutorial on the structure of the language itself, and descriptions of 
what all the functions do.
